The Beemeter

We decided to support the study of bees and therefore in 2017 we donated the “bee meter” to the Biological Centre of the CAS (Czech Academy of Science) in Č. Budejovice. The "bee meter" is a technical and software equipment, a part of an intelligent beehive designed for the purpose of data collection and analysis. We focused on the measurement of humidity and temperature inside and outside the hive and especially spectral analysis of the sounds produced by the bees.

Our activity has been fundamentally motivating research on digital monitoring of honeybee colonies both at the academic department and at the Department of Computer Science of the Faculty of Science of the University of South Bohemia in Č. Budejovice. Teams from both departments are now jointly looking for ways to improve the health of bees by early signalling the course of life parameters in the colony using knowledge from artificial intelligence, neural networks, deep learning and IOT technologies. It is expected that the knowledge gained will become a common part of modern beekeeping practice in the future.

Tangible results
